When the joint and the muscles surrounding it become overworked, irritated, or imbalanced, the result is what most people simply call “TMJ” (clinically, TMD, or temporomandibular dysfunction).

We release the jaw — often including intraoral work — then integrate that release with the neck and shoulders so the whole tension pattern actually resets. This whole-chain approach is what tends to produce lasting relief rather than a temporary fix.
What to Expect During Your Session
Your 90-minute session begins with a short conversation about your symptoms — where it hurts, whether you clench or grind, any dental work or diagnoses we should know about — so we can tailor the work to you.
Your therapist starts externally, warming and releasing the neck, jawline, temples, and cheeks with slow, sustained pressure. When appropriate and only with your consent, intraoral work follows, using fresh medical-grade gloves to release the deep jaw muscles from inside the cheek while supporting the tissue from outside. It’s a firm but controlled pressure — most people describe it as a deep, satisfying release. You’re in control the entire time and can adjust pressure or pause at any point.
The session closes with lymphatic drainage strokes and a few minutes of stillness. Most people leave with a noticeably looser jaw and a lighter head. Mild tenderness for a day is normal as the tissue settles.

Massage Works Best Alongside Your Dental Care
Massage handles the muscular side of TMJ — the tight, sore muscles and the headaches and facial tension they cause. It does not fix a structural bite issue or protect your teeth from grinding damage; that’s your dentist’s territory. A night guard reduces grinding damage but doesn’t release muscles that are already locked up; massage releases those muscles but doesn’t stop nighttime clenching on its own.
